ARNHEM, Netherlands - 15 September 2016 - DNV GL is proud to announce that two of its expert energy consultants and close coleagues have been recognised at the 2016 Cigré Awards. Wim Boone received a Cigré Fellow Award for his contribution in the field of insulated cables and work as a convener, special reporter and tutorial lecturer. Meanwhile, Frank de Wild received a Technical Committee Award for his active participation in Cigré’s study committee on insulated cables.

Cigré, the International Council on Large Electric systems, is one of the leading authorities for the collection, sharing and development of knowledge on energy systems. As international, non-profit organisation, it holds a general assembly every two years that brings together experts from across the world. During this assembly, it recognises members who have made exceptional contributions to Cigré through the prestigious Cigré Awards.

On receiving the Cigré Fellow Award, Wim Boone, Senior Consultant for DNV GL Energy Advisory, said: “Cigré is a unique and highly successful organisation for developing relevant knowledge and experience. Participating in it has been extremely rewarding and I feel honoured to have received the Cigré Fellow Award. For me, the word ‘fellow’ perfectly describes also my personal relationship with Cigré and its dedicated members over the years.”

“Personally, I am very proud of what Cigré delivers. The work we do in the Study Committees leads to invaluable in-depth discussions with the best international experts available. Being part of that community, and now being recognised by it, is a great honour,” added Frank de Wild, Principal Consultant with DNV GL’s Underground and Submarine Power Cables team.

“Everyone at DNV GL is overjoyed that Wim and Frank’s outstanding achievements, expertise and dedication have been recognised in this way. Having one colleague honoured is fantastic, but to have two colleagues receive awards in the same year is really exceptional. It really highlights the depth and breadth of knowledge we have within DNV GL, and our commitment to sharing it to help address the big challenges facing the world today”, said Ditlev Engel, CEO DNV GL – Energy.

The two awards were presented at the 2016 Cigré Biennial Session, held in Paris, France, 21-28 August.
